POS and inventory system for cafés and coffee shops

Get through the morning rush on a tablet you already own, then see what sold, what is running low and what the day actually made.

SageBizet is a free, browser-based café system: a till with sizes, options and split bills, bar and kitchen screens, tables, recipes that use up beans and milk as drinks sell, food cost and waste, suppliers, loyalty, and each day’s takings and profit.

What goes wrong without a system

  • The rush exposes a slow till

Between seven and nine the queue reaches the door, and every second spent hunting for an item or working out change costs a sale. A cash box or a basic register also leaves no record of what sold.

  • Running out of milk at half past ten

Milk, beans, cups and pastries run out on the busiest day because nobody knew how fast they were going. Ordering by feel means either empty shelves or stock in the bin.

  • Regulars who settle up at the end of the week

Office regulars and the staff from the shop next door drink on account, and the notebook behind the counter never quite matches what they think they owe.

  • Busy is not the same as profitable

A full café can still lose money once milk, rent and wages are paid. With takings in the till and costs in a shoebox, the owner finds out at the end of the month.

A day at your business, with SageBizet

Open to close — where each part of the system earns its place.
  1. 06:30

    Open the drawer

Open a cash drawer session with the morning float. SageBizet adds every cash sale to the expected total, so closing later is a count, not a calculation.

  2. 07:15

    The morning rush

Tap the latte, pick Large and oat milk, and take the payment. The drink appears on the bar screen with its options and the customer’s name, and the pickup board calls it when it’s ready. Card and mobile-money payments go through your own terminal and are recorded as Card or Mobile.

  3. 10:30

    Stock check

Each drink sold has already used its recipe’s beans and milk, so the ingredients page shows how many days each one lasts at this pace. The suggested order tops up what’s low in whole packs, and checking in the milk delivery updates stock and its cost.

  4. 13:00

    Lunch and the regulars

Attach a regular to the sale and choose On tab. Their balance updates, and their customer record shows exactly what they owe when they come to settle.

  5. 15:00

    Quiet hours

Check the dashboard: today’s takings against a usual same weekday, the projected close and sales by hour. Record the pastry supplier’s invoice as an expense.

  6. 18:00

    Close

Record the unsold pastries as waste, count the drawer, and read the closing report: takings by payment method, tips, waste, best sellers, what sold out and what to order tomorrow.

Setting up SageBizet for a café

A two-minute setup asks how you serve (dine in, takeaway, pickup), your tax and service charge, and where orders are made, then adds starter sizes and options. Recipes, suppliers and loyalty can follow once the counter is running. The table shows how cafés usually set up what they sell and use.

Pastries and cakesMenu items with a price, or a recipe with a yield (a tray of 12)On for bought-in pastries; log unsold ones as waste
Bottled drinks and snacksItems with a barcode or SKU so a scanner adds themOn

What SageBizet does not do for cafés

  • Process card payments — your existing terminal does that, and the sale is recorded as Card
  • Print to kitchen printers — orders go to bar and kitchen screens in the browser, and receipts print through the browser
  • Take orders from delivery apps, or sell gift cards
  • Keep separate stock for several branches (one location for now)

Common questions

Is SageBizet free for a café?
Yes. SageBizet is free during early access for cafés and coffee shops, with every feature included, no credit card and no per-terminal or per-user fees.
What equipment does a café need to use SageBizet?
A tablet, phone or computer with a modern browser is enough to run a café till on SageBizet. A receipt printer and a barcode scanner that types into the browser are optional and need no special setup.
Can SageBizet track milk and coffee beans?
Yes. Milk and beans are ingredients in millilitres and grams, and each drink’s recipe uses them up as it sells, with sizes scaling the recipe and oat milk swapping the milk. Deliveries, waste and stock counts keep the levels honest.
Can drinks have sizes and options like oat milk or an extra shot?
Yes. Option groups such as size, milk and extras carry their own prices, are asked for when the drink is tapped, appear on the bar screen and receipt, and can change the recipe.
Can regular customers run a tab at my café?
Yes. In SageBizet you attach the customer to a sale and choose On tab; their running balance updates, and the customers page shows the total owed across everyone.
Does the café till keep working if the Wi-Fi drops?
The SageBizet till keeps taking sales without internet. Sales are saved on the device and sync automatically when the connection returns, and a retry can never record the same sale twice.
Can I see my café’s busiest hours?
Yes. The SageBizet dashboard shows sales by hour for today, and Insights has a weekday-by-hour heatmap for any period up to 92 days, which helps with staffing and baking quantities.
