Rental software for equipment, event gear and more

Know what is out, what is free and who has your deposit money, for chairs, cameras, tools, dresses or motorbikes.

SageBizet is free, browser-based rental software that checks every booking against what is free, prices by the day or hour, holds deposits apart from takings, charges late days and damage on return, and sends the customer a link to their rental on WhatsApp.

What goes wrong without a system

  • Promising what is already out

Two weddings on the same Saturday both get the 100 chairs, because the bookings sit in a notebook that nobody added up.

  • Deposit money mixed with takings

Deposits go into the same drawer as rent paid, so at the end of the day the takings look bigger than they are, and giving a deposit back comes out of the day’s cash.

  • Late returns nobody charges

A drill comes back two days late, but nobody is sure when it went out or what was agreed, so the late days are never charged.

  • Half the order comes back

A customer returns 80 chairs and promises the other 20 tomorrow. Without a record, the 20 are forgotten until someone needs them.

A day at your business, with SageBizet

Open to close — where each part of the system earns its place.
  1. 08:00

    Open up

Open the cash drawer. The Today screen shows what goes out today, what is due back and any rental that is overdue.

  2. 09:00

    Hand-out

A customer collects 50 chairs and 5 tables for the weekend. Take the deposit in cash or keep their ID number instead, and send the rental link on WhatsApp.

  3. 11:00

    A booking for next week

A caller wants a camera kit for Friday to Sunday. The new rental shows how many are free for those dates before you promise anything.

  4. 14:00

    A return, two days late

The drill comes back. Late days are suggested from the clock, damage is noted with a charge, the balance is paid at the till and the deposit is given back.

  5. 17:00

    Part of an order back

Eighty of a hundred chairs come back. The rental stays out for the other twenty and moves to returned when the last ones arrive.

  6. 19:00

    Day close

The day close shows takings by payment method, the drawer to count, what is out, what is overdue, the deposits still held and what goes out tomorrow.

Items, quantities and what is free

Setup starts from a kind of rental business (event gear, cameras and tools, clothing, cars and motorbikes, or something else) with example items to change. Each item has a quantity, a price per day, an optional price per hour and an optional deposit per piece, with a photo and a category.

Every booking is checked against what is free: the most pieces out at any one moment over the dates can never be more than you have, and a piece that is overdue still counts as out until it comes back. A two-week view shows the free pieces of each item, day by day.

How a rental is charged
RuleHow it works
By the day or by the hourBy the hour only for items with an hourly price; otherwise by the day
Started days countA started day or hour counts as a whole one: 25 hours is 2 days
Late returnLate days or hours suggested from the clock after a grace time, at the same price; staff can change or waive them
DamageA note and a charge on the item that was damaged

Deposits held apart from takings

The deposit is taken when the items go out, not when they are booked: in cash, by mobile money or card, or by keeping an ID number instead. A deposit is held for the customer and is not counted as takings. When the rental is settled, the deposit is given back, or part of it is kept with a reason, and only the part kept becomes a sale.

What SageBizet does not do for rental businesses

  • Change the dates or items of an existing rental, or extend one — cancel a booked rental and book again
  • Track serial numbers of individual pieces, or keep damage photos
  • Take a deposit at booking — it is taken at hand-out
  • Send reminders before a rental is due back
  • Take bookings online — rentals are made at the counter

Common questions

Is SageBizet free for a rental business?
Yes. SageBizet is free during early access for rental businesses, with items and availability, deposits, returns, the till and the day close included, no credit card and no per-user fees.
Can SageBizet stop me renting out items I don’t have?
Yes. SageBizet checks every rental against what is free for those dates and refuses a booking that would need more pieces than you own, counting overdue items as still out.
How does SageBizet handle rental deposits?
SageBizet takes the deposit at hand-out, in cash, by mobile money or card, or as an ID number kept instead. Deposits are held apart from takings and given back on return, or partly kept with a reason.
Can SageBizet charge late days and damage?
Yes. When items come back late, SageBizet suggests the late days or hours from the clock after a grace time and charges them at the same price, and damage can be noted with a charge per item.
Can customers see their rental online?
Yes. Each SageBizet rental has its own link to send on WhatsApp, showing the items, dates, what is paid and still to pay and the deposit, with only the customer’s first name.
Can I extend a rental in SageBizet?
No. SageBizet does not change the dates or items of an existing rental; a booked rental can be cancelled and booked again, and late days are charged when an item comes back after its due time.
