Inventory management software for small businesses

Know what you have, what is running low and what to reorder — with stock that updates itself as you sell, on any device with a browser.

SageBizet Inventory is free, browser-based stock control where every sale decrements stock, every manual change is recorded with a reason, and low-stock items come with a suggested reorder quantity.

What inventory does in SageBizet

  • Stock that counts itself

Every sale at the till decrements tracked stock, and voiding a sale puts the items back. You count when you want to check, not to find out what happened.

  • Every change has a reason

Manual adjustments are recorded as a purchase, recount, waste, damage, transfer or other, alongside the automatic sale and void-restock entries — so a missing case of stock has a history, not a mystery.

  • Warnings before you run out

Set a low-stock threshold per item. Items at or below it are flagged as low, empty items as out of stock, and both raise a notification so someone acts before a customer asks for something you no longer have.

  • Reorder suggestions from your own sales

The Sage Advisor works out how many days of cover each item has left at its current rate of sale and suggests a quantity to order, so reordering is a short list instead of a guess.

  • Products and services in one list

Turn stock tracking off for services such as a haircut or a wash and they still sell from the same catalogue, without a stock count that means nothing.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add your items

Enter each product with a name, selling price and unit, and optionally a SKU, category, cost price and photo. Switch stock tracking on and enter what you have now.

  2. 02

    Set low-stock thresholds

Give each tracked item the level at which you want to be warned. A fast seller needs a higher threshold than something you sell once a week.

  3. 03

    Sell and receive stock

Sales reduce stock automatically. When a delivery arrives, add it as a purchase adjustment; when something breaks or expires, record it as damage or waste.

  4. 04

    Review and reorder

Check the low-stock list and the Sage Advisor’s suggested quantities, place your orders, and export the item list to CSV whenever you need it elsewhere.

What small-business inventory management actually involves

For most small businesses, inventory management is three questions asked every week: what do I have, what is about to run out, and where did the rest go. A spreadsheet can answer the first on the day it is updated. SageBizet answers all three continuously, because the same records that ring up a sale also move the stock — and anything that moves stock outside a sale has to be given a reason.

How each kind of stock movement is recorded in SageBizet
What happenedHow it is recorded
An item was soldAutomatic sale entry when the sale is charged
A sale was voidedAutomatic void-restock entry; the items go back into stock

Reorder points without the spreadsheet

A reorder point is the stock level at which you order more so the new delivery arrives before you run out. In SageBizet that is the low-stock threshold, and the Sage Advisor adds the part a fixed number cannot: how many days the current stock will last at the rate it is actually selling. If you want to work out a threshold from lead time and daily sales, the reorder point calculator shows the formula.

What it does, and what it doesn’t

Straight answers, so you know before you sign up whether it fits.

It does

  • Tracks stock per item and decrements it with every sale
  • Records every stock change with a reason: purchase, sale, void restock, recount, waste, damage, transfer or other
  • Flags low-stock and out-of-stock items and sends a notification
  • Suggests reorder quantities from days of cover at the current rate of sale
  • Stores an optional cost price per item for profit-by-item reports
  • Exports the item list to CSV

It doesn’t

  • Keep stock by location (branches, stockrooms, warehouses) or group sizes and colours under one product outside the retail module (Retail businesses)
  • Create purchase orders or keep a supplier list outside the café and retail modules
  • Value stock for tax or replace accounting software

Inventory: common questions

Is SageBizet inventory management free?
Yes. SageBizet is free during early access, with inventory, the POS and every other feature included, no credit card and no per-user fees.
Does SageBizet update stock automatically when I sell?
Yes. Every sale decrements stock for items with tracking switched on, and voiding a sale puts the items back into stock with its own recorded entry.
Can I use a barcode scanner with SageBizet inventory?
Yes. Any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types into the browser works; give each item its barcode as the SKU and a scan at the till adds that exact item.
How does SageBizet suggest what to reorder?
The Sage Advisor looks at how fast each item is selling, shows how many days of cover the current stock gives, and suggests a quantity to order. Items at or below their low-stock threshold are also flagged and raise a notification.
Can I track services that have no stock?
Yes. Switch stock tracking off for an item and it sells normally from the POS without a stock count, which suits services such as haircuts, washes or consultations.
Does SageBizet support multiple warehouses or shop locations?
Not as separate stock counts. Each business keeps one stock level per item; if you run several businesses you can manage each under one login and switch between them.
